Jamaican basketball is taking a major leap forward! P.H.A.S.E.1 Academy Jamaica is proud to announce its official entry into the 2025 MADE Hoops Challenger Circuit, one of the most competitive and prestigious AAU circuits in North America. This move is not just about basketball; it’s about elevating Jamaican talent onto the global stage, giving young athletes the exposure, competition, and opportunities they need to earn scholarships and play professionally.
“This is a monumental step for P.H.A.S.E.1 Academy and for basketball in Jamaica,” said Wayne Dawkins, Global Director of P.H.A.S.E.1 Academy. “We’ve been working tirelessly to develop a true pipeline for young players to transition from local competition to the international stage. Competing on the MADE Hoops Circuit gives our players the visibility and experience they need to succeed at the next level.”
Taking on the Best in the U.S.
P.H.A.S.E.1 Academy will tip off its *MADE Hoops tour on April 5-6 in Marietta, GA, facing top AAU teams from across the U.S. The Academy will continue its journey through the season, ultimately competing in the MADE Hoops Finale in Baltimore, MD, from July 17-20.
“This opportunity is bigger than just our team,” said Dave Black, Jamaican Director of P.H.A.S.E.1 Academy. “This is about Jamaica earning respect on the global basketball stage. It’s about showing that Jamaica is a legitimate hub for basketball development, not just for local players but for international talent looking to train in an elite, competitive environment.”
Recent Tryouts Show Massive Growth
With P.H.A.S.E.1 Academy Jamaica's reputation soaring, the recent player tryouts saw over 100 new members join the program. Among them are rising stars eager to prove themselves, including top returning Jamaican player Lebron Lewinson, who sees this as a life-changing opportunity.
“I’ve dreamed of playing at the highest level,” said Lewinson, a standout point guard. “Playing on the MADE Hoops Circuit means going against the best, getting scouted by college coaches, and proving that Jamaican players belong on the biggest stages. I can’t wait to show what we can do!”
History in the Making – First-Ever P.H.A.S.E.1 Girls Team in MADE Hoops
For the first time ever, P.H.A.S.E.1 Academy Jamaica is adding a girls' team to the MADE Hoops Circuit, making history for Jamaican women's basketball! The girls’ team will compete August 2-4 in Philadelphia, PA, marking a new era of opportunity for young female hoopers in Jamaica.
“We are committed to developing all talent, both boys and girls,” added Dawkins. “This is just the beginning for women’s basketball in Jamaica.”
Bringing the Action Back to Jamaica
While the team battles in the U.S., the summer of 2025 will also be packed with elite basketball action in Jamaica. P.H.A.S.E.1 Academy will host two premier events:
